Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest newspaper in Finland reports that Raikkonen signed a 3-year deal with Ferrari and is set to rejoin the Italian team in 2014.
The fantasy story is slowly turning into a shock reality.
Bild was first to report that Ferrari offered Raikkonen a seat for 2014. Later on, the story progressed into a harmless rumor from a small website which nobody took seriously: Raikkonen already signed a contract with his former employer. The news now reached Finnish giants in the form of Ilta-Sanomat and Helsingin Sanomat, Finland’s biggest newspaper and most reliable news source.
HS wrote the story this morning with an additional detail. The Finn signed a 3-year deal, which means he is meant to race at Ferrari until 2017. Raikkonen will replace Felipe Massa and partner Fernando Alonso.
If the sources are correct, Red Bull will confirm Daniel Ricciardo at the Belgian Grand Prix, while Ferrari will announce Raikkonen in Monza.
