Spanish media are reporting that the Valencia Grand Prix will not be on the 2014 calendar, as Barcelona will take over. The street circuit is set for a permanent Formula 1 exit.
Valencia’s presence in Formula 1 has been a constant riddle in recent years. A deal was struck with Spanish representatives that Valencia would return to the calendar next year, and replace Barcelona. The agreement was that Valencia would be on the calendar one year, and Barcelona one year later.
However, the two venues failed to reach an agreement, according to Spanish sources from El Mundo. Valencia is set to be completely removed from the world of Formula 1, with Catalunya to sign a new deal.
The problem for Valencia has always been the poor ticket sales and the high hosting costs.
