German newspaper giant, Bild reports that Raikkonen will swap places with Massa, who will leave his Ferrari seat to join Lotus in 2014. Raikkonen has reportedly signed a preliminary contract and is now almost certain to rejoin Ferrari.
The Raikkonen-Ferrari story just won’t go away. Now Bild claims they have inside sources reporting that Kimi Raikkonen signed a preliminary contract with Ferrari, who are looking to replace Felipe Massa for next year. The team has been unhappy with the Brazilian’s performance in recent years, as he was unable to score enough points for the WCC. As Mercedes currently have the strongest drivers in the field, Ferrari are looking to counter that by pairing Raikkonen with Fernando Alonso for next year.
Felipe Massa will be left to join Lotus, after the Enstone-based team failed to convince Raikkonen to extend his contract. It is currently unknown whether the deal is signed or not.
